Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Position Summary:

The CEO at Monida Healthcare Network holds ultimate leadership responsibility and vision for the success of strategic development, financial management, and the daily operations for the company and it's four joint ventures; comprised of Monida Shared Imaging LLC, Monida Healthcare Staffing Solutions LLC, Monida Healthcare Network Resources, and Big Sky Credentialing Services LLC. As Chief Executive Officer, this individual is responsible for planning, directing,, and leading the operation and strategic development of Monida for the benefit of it's members. By means of cultivating collaborative and strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders, the CEO will possess an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit with strong initiative.

Qualifiers:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience with strong knowledge of healthcare operations, particularly in hospitals and group practices

  • Deep experience in payer contracting and negotiations, including fee-for-service and value-based contracts

  • Bachelors Degree required, Masters or Doctorate preferred

Key Areas of Responsibility and Involvement:

Board and member relations, strategic planning, banking, finance and accounting, legal and regulatory compliance, applications for grants and appropriations, human resources, marketing, and growth and development of the clinically integrated network. Further, he/she represents the organization to Monida Healthcare boards, accountants, attorneys, payers, business representatives, government, and members of the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Board Relations:

    • Maintains strong, collaborative relationships with multiple boards and committees, supporting effective governance and communication.

    • Leads the development of the annual strategic plan and executes strategies and policies adopted by Monida Healthcare's Boards of Directors.

    • Keeps board members informed on key industry trends, operational issues, and financial performance; engages them in major strategic and policy decisions.

    • Partners with the board chair to set agendas, prepares materials and planning documents, and communicates regularly with board members to gather input and support.

    • Ensures appropriate coverage through Directors’ and Officers’ liability and Errors and Omissions insurance policies

  • Financial Management:

    • Oversees the financial health of Monida and its affiliated entities, ensuring sound operations and strategic investments that benefit members long-term.

    • Coordinates financial planning and reporting with the contracted Financial and Business Strategy Consultant, including budgets, reports, and investment oversight.

    • Evaluates opportunities for collaborations, mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, including recruiting new owners and managing legal processes.

    • Reports to financial committees as needed and ensures financial strategies align with organizational goals

  • Executive Leadership and Strategic Development:

    • Leads the strategic development of Monida and its affiliated entities, aligning operations with the organization's mission, vision, and long-term goals.

    • Sets organizational tone and priorities, supports management teams with resources, and coaches staff to ensure professionalism and high performance.

    • Stays informed on healthcare industry regulations and trends, including reimbursement models, compliance (Stark, HIPAA, FTC), and practice management, applying this knowledge to support member competitiveness.

    • Develops revenue-generating programs and service lines that add member value, offset dues, and differentiate Monida in the market through competitive pricing and targeted marketing.

    • Oversees legal and operational compliance across all entities, staffing needs, payroll and benefits, and ensures each organization functions according to its tax status.

  • Payer Contracting, Network Development and provider relations:

    • Leads the shift from fee-for-service to value-based contracting, supporting CIN development and aligning with payer strategies.

    • Builds and maintains a strong, strategically positioned provider network to support contracting goals and internal referrals.

    • Collaborates with payer contracting staff and legal counsel to evaluate opportunities, draft agreements, and ensure compliance with the Modified Messenger Model and other regulations.

    • Ensures all network development and contracting activities comply with healthcare laws and engages legal counsel as needed.

    • Maintains strong relationships with payers and providers, promotes collaboration, and supports outreach and communication on key initiatives.

  • Program Management:

    • Collaborates with the management team to deliver valued member services, including liability insurance programs, group purchasing, and IT analytics supporting clinical integration.

    • Supports credentialing and peer review operations in partnership with the Medical Director, ensuring compliance with NCQA standards and quality oversight.

    • Oversees operations and growth of Monida Shared Imaging and Big Sky Credentialing, including governance, compliance, staffing, financials, and client relations.

    • Leads expansion of services such as staffing, billing, and educational programs, while managing new grant and funding opportunities.

    • Participates in executive-level activities to enhance network influence, including potential service on the Montana Health Network Executive Committee.
